I’m Katherine A, diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome in October 2012 while trying to conceive my first child. The diagnosis came as a complete shock, and while I was frantically trying to bring myself up to speed on understanding the condition, I discovered a large, supportive community of bloggers that gave me hope. I wanted to add my voice to the community.
After a number of treatments, including two fresh IVF cycles, one of my pregnancies finally made it through the first trimester. Unfortunately, the development of a subchorionic hematoma (SCH) at 10 weeks caused my water to break (PPROM) at 21 weeks. Much to everyone’s surprise, I remained pregnant until 28 weeks 4 days when my daughter was delivered by c-section.
My second daughter was conceived without fertility treatments and delivered at term.
We transferred our final PGS-tested genetically normal embryo in October 2019, but the pregnancy test came back negative. A pregnancy conceived without fertility treatments ended in miscarriage at 8 weeks in July 2020.
Infertility, PCOS, IVF, miscarriage, PPROM, NICU, parenting, and now moving beyond trying to conceive, this is my story.
Keep thinking pretty to help you get through your cycle! Keeping my fingers crossed for you and hoping that soon those clothes with stretchy waistbands can be worn for some other reason…
Thanks! I am hoping so too…
It may seem silly to other people, but I agree with you. It’s nice to have one thing that makes you feel like a real person, something that makes you feel pretty.
Oh, I am so with you. It is nice to have that one thing. Thanks for your comment!
Sending a deep breath to hold the anxiety at bay.
That’s a good silver lining, at least. Skirts are cuter than sweat pants…
Thanks – I appreciate it.
Good luck. And I second Mel – at least skirts are cute while they’re squeezing your insides back to semblance of normal
I remember those days, when your ovaries are so swollen you can feel them when you walk and your regular clothes feel uncomfortable. I say if you can’t be in yoga pants then skirts all the way!
At some point, I’m sure the yoga pants are probably going to be coming out too… Thanks for your comment.
We cling to what we can to stay sane–hurray for skirts! Wishing you well always…
Thanks – I appreciate it. And definitely, sometimes just have to find that one thing to hang on to…
I am right there with you Katherine! Love my maxi skirts. Don’t ever forget how beautiful you are 🙂
Thank you – I appreciate it.
Yay for stretchy waistband skirts and feeling pretty, in the midst of all this.
Thanks! It helps.
Ahhh yes I rocked stretchy pants during my IVF cycle. Whatever makes you feel good in the midst of all of that bloating!
Thanks – there are some cute stretchy pants out there too, I just don’t have any.
Good luck!!!!!!
Thank you!
